The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) is collaborating with Volusia County Officials to hold office hours to address emergency permitting relating to temporary and permanent repairs of coastal structures damaged by Hurricanes Ian and Nicole from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, January 19, and Friday, January 20, at the Volusia County Government Building at 440 S. Beach Street in Daytona Beach.

According to a release, residents can ask questions and receive guidance with state or local emergency permits, such as seawalls, sand sources, and walkover repairs. Consulting engineers and contractors experienced with coastal construction are also encouraged to attend so FDEP may guide them through the process.

Anyone who lives within the city limits of Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach Shores, New Smyrna Beach, Ormond Beach, or Ponce Inlet should contact their municipal government's staff for local permitting requirements. Persons residing in unincorporated areas may contact the county.

For additional coastal questions, contact: Trey Hatch for FDEP field permits at 904-832-6757, Dave Kriger for FDEP Coastal Construction Control Line permits at 850-245-7680, or Volusia County Environmental Management for permits for vehicle access for closed beach driving areas at 386-238-4668.
