Florida Votes Yes on Amendment Two.

The State of Florida’s minimum wage was approved for a gradual increase over the next six years during yesterday’s elections.

Amendment two, which provides an increase to $10 per hour as of September 30, 2021 and raised by a $1 increment every year until minimum wage hits $15 per hour, was approved by Florida voters during yesterday’s election.

After the increase of the minimum wage reaches $15 per hour, any raises afterward will be reverted to an adjusted annual inflation effective September 30, 2027.

Amendment two passed with 80.5% of votes counted, which amounted to 234,783 out of 291,513 votes.

The current Florida minimum wage is at $8.56.

The last time Florida voted on a minimum wage increase was back in 2004. Amendment Five of 2004, approved by a vote of 71% to 28%, provided for a $6.15 per hour minimum wage set to increase each year.
