Officials with Volusia County are reminding residents that the election signs that are placed in yards, on intersections, and in library parking lots are not going to recycle themselves, and most recyclers won’t even accept them.

To keep these signs and metal stakes out of the landfill, staff, and volunteers from the Supervisor of Elections office, League of Women Voters, University of Florida/Volusia County Extension, and Keep Volusia Beautiful will be at the Volusia County Agricultural Center, 3100 E. New York Avenue in DeLand, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on November 19 and 20, to collect election signs and deliver the items to a specialized recycling center.

For more information, call the Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Office at 386-736-5930.
