An Orange City man, Adam Morris, 40, has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and transmitting harmful material to minors.

Morris was taken into custody on Friday night following a four-month investigation after the mother of a 16-year-old victim filed a sex offense complaint with the Sheriff's Office. The victim provided screenshots of several inappropriate text messages that Morris had sent the victim through Facebook Messenger. Detectives executed search warrants for Morris' Facebook account and tracked at least three additional juvenile victims, including one who said she was 12.

According to a release, on April 5, detectives executed a search warrant at Morris' home, off E. Minnesota Avenue in Orange City. Detectives seized his cell phone for forensic examination and located various videos and photos of the sexual exploitation of girls estimated to range from 5 to 11 years old.

Morris was arrested on seven counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child, three counts of transmitting harmful material to minors, and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device. He remains in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail on $110,000 bail.

In addition to these charges, Morris was also arrested on a warrant for a separate case with the DeLand Police Department for one count each of transmitting harmful material and use of a two-way communication device to commit a felony. That bail is set at $20,000.

It's believed that Morris has not manufactured child pornography but has downloaded material onto his electronic devices and shared it from or with others. Due to the nature of the materials found, the Sheriff's Office is notifying the public of this case.
