Ormond Beach Daycare Worker Sentenced in Child Abuse Case

Back in May of 2019, Katherine Weitz, 66, of Ormond Beach was arrested for charges of Child Abuse while under the employment of Dream City Academy.

Weitz was brought into custody after the Office Manager of the Academy reported the incident to police after catching Weitz on surveillance camera after hearing cries from a child. The manager watched Weitz engage in hitting, slapping and shaking children. No injuries from the parents of the children involved. 

Weitz admitted “to being frustrated, and overdid it,” in court and was sentenced Tuesday to four months in Volusia County Branch Jail, followed by 10 years probation.
