The Ormond Beach Police Department sent out a news release Thursday, regarding a traffic fatality that occurred Wednesday, September 2, around 3:00 a.m.

The crash happened on West Granada Blvd and involved a pedestrian versus vehicle.

It has been reported that a 2019 black Toyota 4-door vehicle was traveling westbound on Granada Blvd when a Pedestrian tried crossing Granada at Yonge St. The pedestrian, 62-year-old James Keyte of Ormond Beach was then struck by the vehicle, and later died at the scene due to injuries from the crash.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured, nor impaired at the time of the crash. Initial reports are that Keyte was not in a designated crosswalk while crossing the road.

This investigation is on-going and OBPD will send out an update when more information is obtained.
