With the change in the seasons and the cooler weather coming in, Volusia County’s off-season beach access ramp schedule, which closes some beach access ramps for vehicles, goes into effect on Monday, November 1, running through January 31.

According to a release, the ramps at Granada Boulevard, Cardinal Drive, Harvard Drive, University Boulevard, Seabreeze Boulevard, International Speedway Boulevard, Silver Beach Avenue, Dunlawton Boulevard, Beach Street, Beachway Avenue, Flagler Avenue, 3rd Avenue, and 27th Avenue will be open daily. The beach ramps at Milsap Road, Florida Shores Boulevard, Emilia Avenue, and Crawford Road will be open only on weekends.

All other ramps will remain closed through the off-season. Even though ramps are closed to vehicles, access is always open for pedestrians and bicyclists.

“As the 2021 beach season wraps up, we are seeing significantly less beach traffic,” said Jessica Winterwerp, director of the county’s Coastal Division, which manages the beach access ramps. “By strategically reducing the number of open vehicle access ramps, we can reduce operating costs. We determine closures based on usage rates and ensure that those who want to utilize a vehicle access ramp still have convenient options.”

If weather conditions allow, additional ramps may be open for Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas week, and New Year’s week to accommodate holiday beach visitors.
