An 18-year-old woman was fatally struck and killed early Wednesday morning after reports to the Ormond Beach Police Department following reports of a domestic dispute.

Noah M. Motto, 20, and Ericka Dane, 18, were reported to be in the midst of an argument around 2:30 a.m., Wednesday, when Motto left the residence in a pickup truck heading north on Greenvale Drive, towards the back of the neighborhood.

According to a release, Motto turned onto Bryan James Way and then onto Ormond Green Blvd reaching the front of the subdivision. Dane ran from Greenvale Dr onto Ormond Green Boulevard as Motto was crossing the intersection attempting to stop Motto. The pickup truck struck Dane near the intersection, leading to Motto fleeing the scene.

Dane was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Motto was apprehended by Volusia County Sheriff’s Office a short time later, as he was pulling into a driveway in Ormond by the Sea, at which time he was placed under arrest.

This is an active and on-going investigation.

If anyone has any information about this crash, they are urged to contact Officer Feeley,
