According to a news release from Daytona Beach Police Department, DBPD is looking to identify a person of interest in a murder that occurred over the weekend.

The victim, Adrian A. Allen, 31, was found with numerous stab wounds on his body soon after Volusia County emergency dispatchers received a 911 call just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

First responders dispatched to the scene on Jean Street, where they found Allen lying on his back on the floor just outside of an apartment, according to Deputy Police Chief Jakari Young.

“It appears that both the victim and the suspect were in the apartment for a good period of time before the fight broke out on the landing area, where the victim was stabbed multiple times,” Young added. “The specific circumstances or motive is still unknown at this time.”

Paramedics took Allen from the scene to Halifax Health Medical Center, where he passed away from his injuries soon after arrival.

DBPD’s Criminal Investigation Division is actively working this case and wants the public’s help in finding a man who goes by the nickname of “Detroit” and is often seen wearing a Detroit Tigers baseball cap.

“Detroit” is described as a black male in his late 30’s or early 40’s who stands approximately 6’2 and is known to frequent the Jean Street apartments.

Anyone with information on this case or about the person of interest is asked to contact Detective David Dinardi immediately at (386) 671-5219 or DinardiDavid@dbpd.us regarding Case 200012334.
