The Ormond Beach Police Department will participate in the DEA National Prescription Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 23, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. National Prescription Take-Back events are a part of an initiative that allows the public to voluntarily surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutically controlled substances and other medications for proper destruction.

According to a release, the National Take Back event helps prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding your homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. Unfortunately, liquids, needles, or sharps are unable to be collected.

It is important to remember that every day is prescription drug take-back day in Ormond Beach. Residents can drop off unwanted prescriptions and over-the-counter medications at the Ormond Beach Police Department Lobby anytime, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in a secured stationary collection box.
