On Tuesday, Ormond Beach Public Library hosted a panel of experts to help in combating hate received from Propaganda provided by White Supremacists Groups.

The panel of experts included Nancy Soderberg, former U.S Ambassador to the United Nations, Yael Harshfield Deputy Director of the Anti-Defamation League (Florida Region), and Rabbi Kurt Stone.

The panel reviewed numerous cases of the reported 169incidents of extremism or anti-semitism in 2019 from Florida alone. Their goal is for members of the community to become more aware of those who have extremist beliefs to reduce threats of violence.

The use of White Supremacist Groups distributing propaganda is to gain a broader following and raising awareness of the problem to reduce its effects.

Hershfield stated that social media sites have made it easier for extremists to connect online and post manifestos to motivate others to commit acts of violence here on U.S soil and in other countries.
