Seabreeze High School (Daytona Beach, FL) home of the Seabreeze Choir, requires funds to get them to Carnegie Hall.

Just last year, the students of the Seabreeze High School Coir attended the WorldStrides Heritage Festival in Orlando. Impressed with their performance, the Seabreeze High Choir received an invitation to join eight other choirs from around the country to perform once again; at Carnegie Hall in New York City. They will also later be attending the WorldStrides National Harbor Concert on March 22 for a solo performance.

Now, to attend the choir is seeking help to raise $30,000 to be able to get there. According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, the students found the invitation to be a "total surprise."

To gain the funds that are needed, the Hard Rock Live in Daytona Beach is hosting a benefit concert on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Headlined by Greye, a local rock band made-up of Seabreeze High alumni and teachers. The concert for a cause starts at 8:00 pm, followed by Seabreeze High Choir students taking the stage at 9:30 pm, as well as a silent auction taking place throughout the event.

Additionally, the choir has set up a GoFundMe page that can be found here to further assist with reaching their goals.

The whole trip itself will cost a total of $58,000 including chaperones, travel, and lodging. The students have already raised $24,000 to date and are hoping the Fundraising event at the Hard Rock Live, will help them achieve their goal.

Julia Hood, choir director told the News-Journal “It’s kind of overwhelming but very exciting.”

The performance in Carnegie Hall is set for some time in March.

A Facebook event page has been made for the Benefit Concert and can be found here.
