Jamie K. Mann, 35, of Daytona Beach, was arrested on Friday, May 27, 2022, for stealing more than $200,000 from an area marine towing company by inflating her pay without the owner’s knowledge.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation started in April following the Ormond Beach-based company contacting the Sheriff’s Office. An initial review of payroll records revealed that Mann had altered payroll several times, given herself three $5 hourly raises and was overpaid by more than $165,000 between September 2019 and April 2022.

Investigators discovered that Mann obscured payroll records of the actual pay she was receiving and regularly paid herself extra compensation for “on-call” time and time-and-a-half overtime pay. Her annual salary was supposed to be $41, 022 in 2021, but, according to reports, Mann grossed $122, 844 for 4,127.2 hours of work.

Since the beginning of the thefts, Mann stole more than $201,000 in excess pay plus payroll tax costs.

The Sheriff’s Office reviewed Mann’s bank records which indicated she spent the money on Amazon purchases, amusement park tickets, home improvement and decoration, restaurants, and other recreational expenses.

Mann was charged with Grand Theft and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail Friday afternoon. She was released Saturday afternoon after posting a $50,000 bail.
